The financial burden that comes with having diabetes is often overlooked. With the government only subsidising insulin, the additional cost of diabetes equipment such as blood testing strips and insulin pen needles is huge, especially to low-income families. 
The programme aims to help financially needy families by subsidizing their purchases of diabetes supplies.
