Exhibitor Detail:
Turning 18 marks the transition to adulthood. For young people in residential care services who lack home care from their original families, reaching adulthood implies that they have to leave residential care and become “homeless.” This turning point brings them numerous challenges, including achieving independence, pursuing further education, and employment. Accommodation is particularly troubling. Overcoming these obstacles to realize their life goals and soar high is never easy. This booth will showcase the “T-lodge” Youth Co-living Program supported by benefactors and corporate partners in the community. This program offers units for rent below market rates to young people who have previously received residential care and lack family support. This initiative allows these discharged youth to live in safe and stable transitional housing at an affordable rent. The services also include individual counseling by social workers, providing guidance on education, employment, financial planning, and independent living skills, and equipping young people to build their self-sufficiency as they transition into adulthood.
