HONG KONG CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES
Exhibitor Detail:
In Hong Kong, grief counseling services for children are typically provided after the loss of a loved one. However, there is a lack of grief counseling and death education specifically tailored for children facing the late stages, end-of-life and bereavement of family members in preschool and primary school education or services. In fact, frontline experience and empirical research indicate that bereaved children who are unable to process and adapt to the changes brought about by loss may experience negative impacts on their physical, emotional, and mental development.
In light of this, the " Project Raindrops – Support for Children Bereavement" is an innovative service that combines "financial support" and "psychological counseling and therapy" to provide assistance to children aged 3 to 12 and their families who have experienced or are currently experiencing bereavement within the past two years. The project also promotes life & death education experiential activities in both family and school settings.
This exhibition, themed “Letter to the Heavens: Supporting Children in Farewell”, showcases through artistic installations, the endless longing and remembrance of the departed loved ones by the children and their families who have benefited from the project, as well as their stories of growth along the journey of grief.
