Exhibitor Detail: The Pathways Foundation is one of the beneficiaries of Operation Santa Claus 2022 (OSC), sponsoring our three-year “Short Course Intervention for Children with Dyslexia from Low-Income Families” (OSC Short Course Programme) project. The OSC Short Course Programme is held during the summer holidays to provide free intervention courses for children with reading and writing difficulties who are not able to gain access intervention due to financial difficulties. This programme aims to enhance these students’ learning interests and literacy skills, and is expected to benefit 240 students in the three years. Since the programme kick-started in July 2023, there were 113 students benefitted.
The project aims to enhance the learning interest of students with dyslexia from low-income families through the short course programme. The result of the post-course survey showed that almost all of the parents agreed that the short course had helped to increase their children’s learning interests. In addition, we have also provided free student talks to our partner schools to raise awareness of dyslexia among students and teachers. To date, two primary schools have been visited and the response has been overwhelming with 500 students attending the school talks.
