Exhibitor Detail: The "Child Safeguarding Policy" has been a global trend for child-related organisations to adopt as a crucial preventive measure against institutional child maltreatment cases. However, in Hong Kong, it is still in its advocacy stage. The recent increase in child abuse cases reflected the urgent need to strengthen prevention efforts. In response, Plan International Hong Kong (Plan Hong Kong) thus conducted a thorough review of relevant legal requirements and guidelines from jurisdictions worldwide, leading to the development of a comprehensive framework for the Child Safeguarding Policy. This framework, tailored to local needs, encompasses four dimensions and twenty standards. We also offer support to organisations to institutionalise the "Child Safeguarding Policy" based on Plan Hong Kong’s framework, with the hope to 1) develop standardized policies, procedures, and code of conduct to regulate child-related personnel’s behaviour; 2) enhance staff knowledge on Child Safeguarding as well as fostering a child-friendly organisational culture; 3) educate and establish effective communication channels between schools and parents on safeguarding children ultimately making the organisation safe for children’s growth.
