Under the vision of multicultural integration, CanTone was granted funding by the SIE Fund in 2023 to develop an AI Cantonese learning app specifically designed for Ethnic Minority (EM) and non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students. The app provides Cantonese pronunciation and listening practice and supports four EM languages, including English, Urdu, Nepali, and Hindi. Currently, CanTone provides a comprehensive on-site school program with a diverse range of interest and academic courses. The characteristics and objectives of three core programs include: 1) Educational support for non-Chinese speaking children (interactive Chinese learning) to boost learning interest and enhance language proficiency and cultural understanding. 2) Student leader and ambassador training on integration to cultivate students as bridges for cultural exchanges. 3) AI-assisted Chinese story creative writing workshops to not only stimulate creativity, but also to foster collaboration between NCS and local students and youth development. All these initiatives are directed towards promoting social inclusion and integration of diverse cultures.
